Amazing animals, excellent service, generous, warm people, exceptional guide – that describes our African Dream Safari in the Serengeti. Our ADS representative Dawn Anderson put together an unbelievable itinerary, with a great combination of tented camps and lodges. Each one with their own charm and warmth. Dawn was always available and ready to answer questions. This was our retirement trip and ADS made sure it was very special with a retirement dinner under the stars, Masai gifts, dances, fruit basket and sparkling wine and even a sundowner party and goodbye cake. They far exceeded any of our expectations.
This trip was perfect from the start with the Meet and Greet staff at the airport who quickly got us through customs before driving us to Arusha. We enjoyed our coffee plantation tour and watching the Vervet monkeys as they mischievously tried to get into our room.
Once we arrived in Central Serengeti and met our wonderful guide Chris, a truly once in a lifetime experience began. Within the first hour after leaving the airport, we saw elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, lions and more practically right outside our vehicle.
Each and every day brought us new sightings and experiences. Our guide was an expert at knowing the best places and the best times to view particular animals. We asked him a ton of questions, and he always knew the answers. We learned so much about the animals and the Tanzanian culture from him.
We started most days with an early breakfast and a 6am game drive. We were never disappointed. Our first safari camp was Seronera Sametu Camp and we were delayed leaving our tent that morning because a lion was walking down the road! The staff here and everywhere we stayed always greeted us with a huge smile and made us feel so special. They catered to anything that we wanted.
Chris, our guide, was an expert at driving over very rough roads, while also spotting animals far away. He worked very hard to find us all the animals that we wanted to see. The great migration of wildebeests and zebras were a sight to behold. We saw many lion prides, cheetahs, warthogs, hyenas, pink flamingoes, and more. Only the leopard and the black rhino were elusive—but we still got a look through the great binoculars they provided.
We also took advantage of some of the optional activities such as a Masai Boma tour, the Olduvai Gorge tour, a tour of the hospital F.A.M.E. and a visit to St. Jude school. These experiences only added to our great vacation.
We had researched many safari companies before making our decision. We are so glad we chose African Dream Safaris. They took care of everything from the first moment we contacted them. It was truly a dream vacation.
