First, I would like to thank Dawn Anderson and the team at ADS for their attentiveness to all our needs and the special things they did to make our safari a DREAM COME TRUE! From booking the trip to the moment we stepped off the plane in Kilimanjaro and were whisked away to the private VIP lounge for visa and passport processing, every aspect of our trip was PERFECTION.

We had taken an extra day in Arusha to unwind before heading out to the Northern Serengeti. Our visit to Arusha National Park was a wonderful start to what was going to be the most AMAZING trip we have ever experienced.

The park was beautiful and although the day was overcast with on and off light rain showers, the gloomy weather shed a dreamy watercolor paint like look over the landscapes

David, Our ADS guide for the day was extremely informative and did an excellent job of finding the rare colobus monkeys we were hoping to see.

We had a blast watching the antics of baboons that were fascinated with their private parts (LOL!)

The best part of the day was the guided nature walk that brought us within feet of 3 giraffes. My husband was over the moon!

The next morning, we boarded our flight to the northern Serengeti to officially start our Safari and hopefully get to see the Wildebeest cross the river. Upon arrival we met our guide and soon to be friend for the next 9 days Roman.

We headed straight to the river and right away were lucky to see the end of a crossing with the remaining wildebeest struggling to exit the river. It was mesmerizing to watch.

During the day we saw herds of Wildebeest, Zebra and Thomson gazelle spanning the plains, ostrich, hippos, crocodiles, elephants, giraffe plus more.

Just when I thought our day was complete, we came across a surprise of 2 cheetahs napping and 2 jackal enjoying a late afternoon meal.

On our second day we were fortunate to see 3 more crossings, the last being a major one. Just as it seemed to be ending it would start again. Words can’t describe the exhilaration of watching this amazing event!

On Day 3, just 5 minutes outside of Sametu Camp we saw the aftermath of a buffalo kill by a pride of 15 lions. As we were early starters, from 6:00 am to 8:00 a.m we were the only safari vehicle at the kill. We were less than 10 feet away as we watched them dismantled the buffalo in what was both horrifying and fascinating. After 2 hours other jeeps started arriving, stayed 5 minutes for their photo op and drove away. Being on a private safari with ADS gave us the opportunity to do what we wanted and stay as long as we wanted to enjoy the moments unfolding.

Every day was an adventure. We were fortunate to experience elephants within inches of our vehicle, ostrich doing the mating dancing, giraffes fighting that looked like a ballet performance and the elusive tree climbing lions, a unique behavior primarily found in only 2 places in the world (Lake Manyara/Tanzania and QE NP/Uganda). The wildlife list goes on and on.

Just as amazing as the wildlife seeing the lifestyle of the people as we passed thru the villages was a humbling experience. I can go on forever about this amazing trip. If considering a safari to Tanzania, in my opinion there is only one option. African Dream Safaris. You will not be disappointed.
