Africa Dream Come True!

First of all, the world owes the people of Tanzania a dept of gratitude for conserving the Serengeti ecosystem. It is a place like no other! Africa Dream Safaris works within the culture and the ecosystem to share the magnificence that is the Serengeti. The relationships they have built were evident at every turn and I think that’s a testimonial to any company.

This was a trip of a lifetime for us that I had wanted to do since I was a child. We chose to do it for our 35th wedding anniversary and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate a long and wonderful marriage. Every step of the way, ADS staff were there to answer questions, give advice, and share their knowledge, but it was truly our safari.

Dawn helped us develop an itinerary suited to our interests and answered every single question quickly and accurately. From the moment we stepped off the plane at Kilimanjaro, we were taken care of. Passport control was expedited, bags were collected, health screening was quick and then we were off to the Arusha Coffee Lodge.

The next morning we were treated to a beautiful flight over the Serengeti to the western region and the Grumeti airstrip. It was a great overview of the terrain we would be traveling through for the next 10 days. I really appreciated the fly out/drive back approach to our safari. We saw so many things on our drives that we would have missed on an airplane.

Our guide Roman was superb and shared his extensive knowledge with us. The best part was he was continuing to learn by observing the animals and could compare and contrast behaviors he had seen over his career. His care and concern for the environment, the wildlife, and the people were always evident.

Each of the camps we stayed at including Kirawira, Seronera Sametu and Ngorongoro Lions Paw were amazing and unique. The description of ‘tent’ doesn’t do our lodgings justice. The camp personnel always made us feel welcome and well cared for and I even learned about a home remedy when I lost my voice.

I purchased my first camera when I was in college and have played with photography ever since. The wildlife photography possibilities on this trip were just astounding. We saw everything we hoped to and more. Our guide had the best spotting skills and we always showed patience so that we could watch events unfold. Our motto was that Mother Nature would show us what she wanted and we were her guests. She did not disappoint!

This was simple a most amazing experience and we feel deep gratitude for being able to experience it. Asante sana to the people of Tanzania and to ADS for making a dream come true!
