We recently took our son and daughter-in-law to Tanzania on a safari with ADS. It turned out to be the trip of a life time! We saw so many animals. Of the 2 million wildebeest in Tanzania I think we saw 1.5 million of them. We saw more lions than we could keep track of. We were even fortunate enough to see the very rare African wild dogs and of course we saw many elephants, giraffe, zebras, warthogs, antelope, hippos, monkeys, baboons, cheetahs and leopards.
It takes a dedicated and knowledgeable staff to organize a safari of this quality. Dawn Anderson was wonderful. She always answered my, at times, ridiculous questions. She planned a surprise birthday party for our daughter-in-law at our second tented camp. Dawn had us so organized when we landed at Kilimanjaro airport that we were through the airport and on our way to Arusha in 30 minutes.
The men who run the tented camps (Mara River Camp, Seronera Sametu Camp and Ngorongoro Lions Paw Camp) were both attentive and helpful. We visited their bush kitchen. I am amazed at the food a bush kitchen can produce. We so appreciated the hot water bottles in the beds at night and the hot coffee they brought to the tents in the morning. We enjoyed sitting around the camp fire talking with these men in the evening. These camps were a wonderful part of this trip.
Of course the driver, guide is one of the most important people you deal with on a Safari. Our guide was Thompson. I firmly believe that Thompson had binoculars for eyes. Our son and daughter-in-law like birds. Thompson was able to show them birds that were difficult to find even with binoculars.
I appreciated that we were the only safari vehicle around so many of the animal sightings. Early one morning we were the only ones watching a beautiful cheetah next to the road. That was the case so many times. Thompson was great. What an outstanding company African Dream Safaris is!
We all wanted to stay longer and we all hope to return.

Your photo of the wildebeests is fantastic. The juxtaposition of the warm brown colors against the cool blue, black and gray at the bottom is amazing, the dusty vs the sharp and bright, dull vs sparkling, etc. Wonderful composition. The story that is told. I, particularly like the portrait version which still displays all of the above, as well as providing a break from the commonly used landscape style.
Perhaps you should submit it to Nat’l Geographic.
