My husband and I just returned from a two week adventure, exploring the country and wildlife of Tanzania. We were so happy to be there in April, which is the low-season period for them due to being in the rainy season. The rains, however, had very little impact on our activities. On the other hand, the greenery, the abundance of new-born babies among the many animals, and the much lower crowd numbers made for a wonderful experience.
African Dream Safari is a top-notch travel agency, and they took exceptional care of us from beginning to end. That means they were there to meet us as we disembarked from our plane, took us where we needed to go, kept in touch with us via WHATS APP to help us deal with a changed schedule after our flight to Tanzania was delayed by a day, provided lodges and food that were beyond compare, and, most importantly from our standpoint, they supplied us with a great tour guide/driver (Ben Nguma) and a comfortable Land Cruiser vehicle.
Knowing Charles’ interest in getting good camera shots, Ben took care to give suggestions, angle the vehicle multiple ways and give him warnings when a prime opportunity was about to happen. It made for a rewarding experience!
ADS was with us to the end, as we boarded our plane to return home. I simply can’t speak highly enough of this company and for the professionalism and care they give to providing an experience that we, for one, will never forget.
As for the trip itself, the country and the people are amazing, warm and hospitable. There were opportunities every single day to observe and learn more about the wildlife, and, although we stay in the vehicle, the animals were not shy about coming close. There were times when I could practically hear David Attenborough narrating in my mind about a scene unfolding before my eyes!
Make no mistake – it’s a real-life adventure! There is rough off-roading drives, dust, flies, “washing the tires” when no toilets are nearby, but the rewards of experiencing the encounters with animals and the daily surprises of what was awaiting us around the corners of each day was so worth it!
The country, the people, and all the many varieties of animals we met will live on in our minds and hearts forever!
