We Unreservedly Recommend ADS For A Private Safari To Tanzania

My wife and I recently returned from a week’s safari in the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater in February 2020. The program that Africa Dream Safari (ADS) Vice President, Sharon Lyon arranged for us was as complete and near-to-perfect first trip to Tanzania that a traveler could want.

To begin with, the airline and hotel travel arrangements made by Cathy King in North Carolina were excellent. She was always available to answer questions about the flights and hotels. I fully recommend her services.

The trip was indeed fully hosted from the start to the finish, as stated by ADS. The most amazing aspect of the wonderful people we met on our safari was our driver/guide, David Chando. What a wonderful person he is! He was an indefatigable presence for the week we were together. He was a calm and steady driver along the very arduous roads in the Serengeti.

David was brilliant in his game spotting, able to see so much game even at great distances. His professional ethics and concerns for the well being of the wildlife of the Serengeti evident every day. He was friendly and polite and made sure that all of our needs were met from sunup to sundown. He made the many hours spent on game drives a complete success.

The accommodations that Sharon chose for us were delightful. The two tent camps we stayed in, Seronera Sametu Camp and Woodlands Camp, were comfortable and quite safe. The staff at each camp was friendly, earnest and extremely polite. The food was delicious, especially the nightly soups!

The Arusha Coffee Lodge at the beginning and end of the trip was 5 stars all the way. The new Ngorongoro Lion’s Paw Lodge was comfortable and warm. No more worries about cold nights at 9000′ altitude in the full cottage we stayed in. Finally, the Escarpment Luxury Lodge was just that: luxurious and a wonderful way to end the trip. All camps and lodges had 24 hour electricity and plenty of hot water.

A private safari is an expensive venture. We fully feel that our money was well spent. We unreservedly recommend ADS for your consideration of a safari to Tanzania.

  1. Our first trip was in March 2019. Since then I love read other people’s post and seeing their excellent photos. Our experience with ADS was the same as yours. I hope we can go on a second trip soon. Thank you for sharing your trip and your great photos.
