I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful our anniversary safari trip was. ADS and Tanzania exceeded our expectations in every way. We did not have one problem. Everyone was helpful and kind. Michael, our guide, was AMAZING! He knew all about Tanzania, every animal, their behavior, and where to position the Land Cruiser for the best view and photos. He was able to spot the wildlife when they were hardly visible to the eye. How does he do that?
Michael also knew when to watch and wait for an animal to see a particularly interesting behavior and it paid off handsomely. He is an excellent driver too. We can’t say enough about how impressed we were with him. He took care of us so well. We wanted to be up early and drive all day and he did that for us with enthusiasm.
The accommodations in the Hemingway Camps were all we could have hoped for and more. Thanks to ADS for our anniversary bush dinner and breakfast!
We saw everything we wanted to see and more. We saw two juvenile lions playing in the water and playing keep-away with a stick, cheetah with cubs, leopard eating his gazelle in a tree, leopards mating, lions mating, elephants digging for water, elephants walking so close to our vehicle it took our breath away, a newborn gazelle stand up and take her first steps, elephants playing, eating, drinking, giraffes spitting water and eating a pod from a sausage tree (quite funny).
We also saw ostrich courting, lions stalking, eating a wildebeest and sleeping and more sleeping, jackals, killer bees, countless unusual and colorful birds, warthogs with proud tails, superman lizards, hyenas, maybe thousands, of gazelle, herds of the lumbering cape buffalo, a rare rhino in the Ngorongoro Crater, hippos in and out of the water, HUGE crocodiles (including one catching a wildebeest in the Mara River), and the spectacular Mara River crossing with zebra and thousands and thousands of wildebeest.
ADS gave us such great resources to prepare for the trip, and took care of us so well after arrival we were able to enjoy it with no worries.
