Our 3rd Safari With ADS

If a Serengeti safari isn’t on your bucket list, it should be. When my wife and I first discussed the possibility of a trip to see the Great Migration I was very nervous. I felt this type of vacation was outside of my comfort zone. We researched dozens of safari companies and after much deliberation ultimately decided on Africa Dream Safaris. Michael was extraordinarily patient with us and happily answered every question we could come up with.

On all 3 of our safaris we have been warmly and professionally met at the Kilimanjaro airport by Mattias. He helped gather our luggage and loaded it into a waiting ADS vehicle for transport to the hotel in Arusha. On this trip we spent our first 4 nights at the Arusha Coffee Lodge. This allowed us to shake off the jet lag (we are from Canada) and visit some local sites. A day spent at the School of St Jude and Shanga will renew your faith in people and a trip to the Cultural Heritage Centre is always a good idea.

On day 5 we flew into the central Serengeti and were met by our driver/guide Arnold. We spent the next 4 nights at Sametu camp and Arnold filled our days with the most incredible sightings. 10 week old cheetah cubs, 4 month old cheetah cubs, 7 month old cheetah teenagers. He found us a mother leopard with her young cub and Arnold even found us 2 leopards mating at the top of a kopje.

If that wasn’t enough Arnold found us a lioness with four cubs about 4 or 5 weeks old. They played together like kittens. Then there was the Great Migration. We spent 2 days following and coming in very close contact with the migration. Tens of thousands of animals at a glance. Vast expanses of grassy plains filled with animals. What an incredible sight!

Next we drove to the western Serengeti and spent 4 nights near the Grumeti River at Kirawira tented camp. Enormous Nile crocodiles, colobus monkeys, lions, elephants, giraffes and much more.

Most nights we fell asleep listening to lions roar and we were always up and moving before sunrise. Sunrise and sunset in the Serengeti is very special and not to be missed. On our final full day game drive Arnold found us the Great Migration 1 more time and we filled the day watching one of natures most magical sights.

Thank you Michael, Arnold, Mattias and all the ADS staff who do everything imaginable to make your safari a dream come true!!!

  1. Your report makes me want to return. Arnold was our guide too and your praise is well deserved. Hi Arnold!
Your photos are extraordinary. What time of year we’re you there, I’m guessing spring. And how many days were you on safari?
    Jill from Colorado

  2. Arnold was our guide also and that trip was the best time of my life. I want so badly to return to Tanzania and I would only deal with Africa Dream Safaris as everything worked perfectly and every place we stayed was amazing.

  3. How many were in your party? Looks like a fantastic trip. We are sure considering ADS.

    1. Hi Robert. All 3 of our ADS safaris have been amazing. Our 1st safari was just my wife and I. We took our 2 kids on the 2nd safari and this last safari was just my wife and I again.

  4. We had the joy and privilege of spending two weeks with Arnold in November 2018.

Arnold is the best. Can’t speak highly enough of his knowledge and love of the wildlife and their behaviors. He is also a complete gentelman. So proud of my African Son!

Hi Arnold, your American Mamazzz miss you!

  5. I am going to join all of you in giving accolades to Arnold. He guided my wife and I for two weeks in March and did an excellent job. I hope he is able to read this and know how much we all appreciate all his hard work.

John and Dee Dee, I love your photographs. Excellent captures. We love sharing ours with our family and friends, as I am sure you do. I can tell you fully enjoyed your trip and that is due in a large part to how well ADS takes care of everyone that uses them.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

  6. Beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing. Arnold was our guide in March of 2019 and he did a great job for us too. Glad to hear he is still showing people around and finding all the views of the wildlife.

  7. Arnold was our guide in July of 2014 on our family safari. He was wonderful. Our grandsons were 8 and 10 then. It was the most incredible experience we have ever had. I too want to go back. Magical is the adjective that best describes our Safari. Your pictures are awesome!
