Africa in the spring is an amazing time to visit. We didn’t have the crowds; the weather was perfect and the animals were plentiful. And did I mention “babies”? So many babies! Lion cubs sauntering through the tall grass to the road. Cheetah cubs feasting on a fresh kill. Elephants milking from their mothers. There were baby zebras, wildebeest, impalas, hippopotamus and the lists go on.

Of course, it helps to have an experienced and very friendly guide (Bernard) to take you on your game drives. We saw so many things we never expected to see. The knowledge our guide shared with us was endless!!!

The best part of our trip was taking in the 360-degree view of it all. At one point, we saw hyenas poking their heads out of the tall grass. At first it was one, and then two and then they were all over the place on both sides of the road. They smelled a fresh kill and were looking for it. And then we saw the pride of lions. The male was being very possessive of the kill and attacked the younger males to keep them away. It was so incredible to watch.

All of the lodges we stayed at were unbelievable including Four Seasons Serengeti, Lake Masek Lodge and Ngorongoro Melia. It was so wonderful to have a nice place to relax after the game drives and the food was amazing. The picnic lunches were delicious. We definitely did not go hungry on this safari.
